Did you know? Every piece of plastic ever created is still in existence today. And faux leathers, although made from plastic, are often portrayed as the ‘ethical’ version of leather due to the fact they are artificial and without animal suffering.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Oliver co. do not believe in compromise when it comes to sustainable design. Through innovative new materials and partnerships with high-end manufacturers, they have created a range of sustainable, premium accessories for everyday use. Their products are crafted using two different leather materials made from apples and wood:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Apple leather is made using 50% apple waste and 50% polyurethene. Sourced from Bolzano, Italy. One of the largest apple-producing areas in the world. The leather up-cycles all unused apples and creates a high-quality, durable material. Wood leather is created using thin sheets of wood cut with micro laser etchings to give the softness and flexibility to be sewn into material. All the wood is sourced from FSC® approved forests to guarantee traceability and the origin of the wood. Fact: this material reduces the CO2 emitted in production by 60% compared to animal leather.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Oliver Co. present a range of well-designed, sustainable alternatives to animal and plastic-based leathers that are currently in the market. A great example of how innovation can help change the fashion industry for the better.
